FAQ Dimensioner in-motion

Our Dimensioner is developed for automated dimensioning, weight assessment, barcode scanning, label detection, stackability check and real-time analytics for palletized goods in motion.

1. Introduction

What is a DWS system and what advantages does it offer?

A DWS system (Dimensioning, Weighing and Scanning) automatically captures the size, weight, and identification of goods as they move through your logistics flow.
This automation reduces manual work, eliminates measurement errors, and provides reliable, real-time data for billing and logistics optimization.
The main advantages include faster throughput, improved accuracy, optimized warehouse space, and significant time and cost savings.

What is the Dimensioner in Motion system and what is it used for?

CIND’s Dimensioner in Motion is an advanced vision-based measurement system designed for palletized goods in motion.
It uses stereo vision cameras, AI and algorithms to capture dimensions, weight, and visual data, all automatically as goods move through your facility.
The system helps logistics operators collect complete master data without disrupting existing workflows.

2. Measurements & Performance

Which objects can be measured with the Dimensioner in Motion system?

The system is designed to handle all types of palletized freight including goods with black wrapping or irregular shapes.
It can measure and analyze both standard and non-standard pallets in motion, whether transported by forklift, conveyor, or AGV.
This flexibility makes it ideal for dynamic warehouse and terminal environments.

How accurate are the measurements of the Dimensioner in Motion system?

CIND’s Dimensioner in Motion delivers precise measurements that comply with international standards and is certified as “legal for trade.”
The accuracy of +-2cm ensures correct freight data, reliable invoicing, and efficient space utilization.

How fast can CIND’s systems measure?

CIND’s technology performs volume calculations in under two seconds, allowing for seamless in-motion measurement up to 7 km/h.
Up to 500 pallets can be measured automatically per hour — enabling true high-throughput efficiency.

3. Functionality

How does the Dimensioner in Motion system determine stackability?

That is done in two different ways, independent of each other. One is geometric check comparing the point clouds to trained models, the other is to read text and labels for example ”do not stack”

Can the system read barcodes during measurement?

Yes. The Dimensioner in Motion read labels and shipment IDs as the goods pass through the system.
All barcode data is automatically linked to the corresponding measurement record giving you complete traceability without manual scanning.
Even multiple barcodes on one pallet can be captured in a single pass.

Does the system capture photos of each pallet or shipment?

Yes. Every measurement is documented with high-resolution images from multiple angles.
These images provide visual verification of shipment condition, packaging quality, and label placement all stored together with the dimensional data.
Photo documentation reduces disputes and improves transparency across the supply chain.

How does the system measure dimensions and calculate volume?

The Dimensioner in Motion uses stereo vision cameras to capture a precise 3D model of each pallet.
From this model, the system automatically calculates:
• Bounding box: the total outer dimensions (L × W × H) including skid.
• Net volume: the actual occupied volume of the goods, excluding skid.

4. Integration & Compatibility

Can the Dimensioner in Motion system be connected directly to my ERP or WMS?

Yes. CIND’s systems are built for seamless integration and can send real-time dimension, weight, barcode, and image data directly into your existing ERP or WMS environment.
This allows full automation of data capture, improving accuracy and reducing administrative tasks.

Can I access all measurement data through CIND’s cloud-based interface instead of integrating with my WMS?

Yes. CIND offers a secure cloud-based platform where all measurement data including dimensions, weight, barcode information, images, and timestamps is automatically stored and visualized.
Through the cloud interface, you can easily monitor performance, review shipments, and export data as needed, without requiring direct integration with your own WMS or ERP system.
It’s a flexible, plug-and-play solution that gives you instant access to complete freight data anywhere, anytime.

5. Usability & Operation

How easy is it to operate CIND’s systems?

CIND’s systems are designed for full automation and ease of use.
Once installed, the measurement process runs automatically, operators simply move goods through the measurement area, and the system does the rest.
All results are displayed in an intuitive interface and can be exported or integrated into your preferred data systems.

What training is required?

Training is minimal. Operators typically only need a short introduction to the user interface and workflow.
Since the system automates measurement and data capture, day-to-day operation is simple and requires little technical expertise.

6. Strategic Value

How does master data capture improve your logistics processes?

Accurate master data is the foundation of efficient logistics.
By automatically capturing exact dimensions, weight, barcode information, and images for every shipment, you gain:
• Correct freight billing and fewer disputes
• Optimized storage and load planning
• Reduced manual handling and faster throughput
• Better data quality for analytics, sustainability, and business intelligence
CIND’s solutions turn your logistics data into a competitive advantage — enabling smarter, faster, and more sustainable operations.
